A factory we visited in Yiwu, a city in Zhejiang.  Yiwu is essentially the “factory” capital of China, and produces much of the low-technology goods.  It’s a very entrepreneurial town, and is home to the largest wholesale B2B mall in the world.  We visited a factory that manufactured stuffed animals for big name companies like Mattel, Tyco, etc.

The factory and working conditions were very clean, to my surprise.  I was also kind of surprised that stuffed animals are sewn by hand - their factory floors weren’t very big at all.  I asked the company owner where he saw the business growing.  He stated he desired to get into more high technology manufacturing, so he can add more value for their clients.
