Spring Break Plans!
I thought I’d share with you my itinerary for spring break! In accordance with Chinese labor day, we get a week off at the end of April to go and do some personal traveling. Me, my room mate Andrea, and our friend Brooke are planning on backpacking through southern China and hitting some of the “must-see” sights along the way.
Itinerary (So far…):

First, an overnight train to Anhui, to see the famous Yellow Mountain (Huangshan 黄山). If you see any kind of scenery painting in China, the Yellow Mountains are most prominently featured. Then, we travel to Mukeng Bamboo Forest - where scenes from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was filmed - and take a flying fox zipline through the trees.

Then, another overnight train to Jiangxi for the day to see Mount Sanqing (Sānqīng Shān 三清山). This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and something of a diamond in the rough here in China. The fantastically shaped granite peaks play host to unique meteorological conditions, creating bright halos on clouds and white rainbows.

Finally, the pièce de résistance, Guilin. Guilin - in the province of Guangxi - is one of the most beautiful places in China. We’ll be touring the Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces….

Visiting the Reed Flute Caves…

Cruising down the Li River…

And more awesome stuff around Guilin! We’re all so excited to get out of the city, and see authentic Chinese countryside.
